  • Warlord
    • The player taking this role is the overall leader of the breakaway Imperial faction. If the PC is a moff, they will predominantly spend their time planetside running their little empire. Such a character would not possess military skills, having risen to power through a different path, and the role of the admiral is filled by an NPC. If the player's character is the admiral, they directly command the fleet, and they have assumed command over all civilian assets as well, in effect becoming the military governor of the system. They will spend most of their time aboard their flagship.
    • This character will have both Obligation and Duty. The Duty is not to a superior individual or organization, but to the people he or she rules over.
    • This character provides a bonus of Presence -2 to the faction's Economy, Loyalty, or Stability score.
    • Vacancy penalty: +4 Unrest.
    • Currently vacant.
  • Interior Minister
    • This role is that of liaison between the leader and his or her subjects. It is a strictly planetside, civilian role, and the character is responsible for overseeing local government(s), infrastructure, and law enforcement within the territories controlled by the faction, and includes control of regular police forces.
    • This character will have Duty, but may also possess some Obligation.
    • This character provides a bonus of Presence -2 or Cunning -2 to the faction's Loyalty.
    • Vacancy penalty: -2 Economy, -2 Loyalty, +1 Unrest, cannot benefit from the Holiday Edict.
    • Currently vacant.
  • Defense Minister
    • This role is that of military chief of staff. It is a strictly planetside role, but can be held by a character with either a civilian or military background, the latter being preferable.
    • This character will have Duty, but may also possess some Obligation.
    • This character provides a bonus of Presence -2 to the faction's Stability.
    • Vacancy penalty: -4 Loyalty.
    • Currently vacant.
  • Foreign Minister
    • This is the faction's top diplomat, and the character should, ideally, have a civilian background.
    • This character will have Duty, but may also possess some Obligation.
    • This character provides a bonus of Presence -2 or Intellect -2 to the faction's Stability.
    • Vacancy penalty: -2 Stability, cannot issue Diplomatic or Exploration edicts.
    • Currently vacant.
  • Minister of Industry
    • This is the faction's top industrialist, and the character should, ideally, have a civilian background. The character is responsible for overseeing all production within the territories controlled by the faction.
    • This character will have Duty, but may also possess some Obligation.
    • This character provides a bonus of Presence -2 or Intellect -2 to the faction's Economy.
    • Vacancy penalty: -4 Economy.
    • Reif Yondell
  • Finance Minister
    • This is the faction's top banker, and the character should, ideally, have a civilian background. The character is responsible for taxation and the allocation of funds.
    • This character will have Duty, but may also possess some Obligation.
    • This character provides a bonus of Intellect -2 or Cunning -2 to the faction's Economy.
    • Vacancy penalty: -4 Economy, cannot collect any taxes whatsoever and taxation level is considered 'none'.
    • Currently vacant.
  • Director of Intelligence
    • This is the faction's top spy. The character can have either a civilian or military background. The character is responsible for all aspects of intelligence gathering, both within the territories controlled by the faction and within that of other factions or the New Republic.
    • This character will have Duty, but may also possess some Obligation.
    • This character provides a bonus of Intellect -2 to the faction's Economy, Loyalty, or Stability.
    • Vacancy penalty: -2 Economy, -2 Stability, +1 Unrest.
    • Currently vacant.
  • High Justice
    • This is the faction's top judge, and the character should, ideally, have a civilian background. The character is responsible for adjudicating law within the territories controlled by the faction.
    • This character will have Duty, but may also possess some Obligation.
    • This character provides a bonus of Cunning -2 to the faction's Loyalty.
    • Vacancy penalty: -2 Loyalty.
    • Currently vacant.
  • High Inquisitor
    • This is the faction's head of internal security. The character can have either a civilian or military background. The character is responsible for all aspects of enforcing political order within the territories controlled by the faction, and includes control of secret police.
    • This character will have Duty, but may also possess some Obligation.
    • This character provides a bonus of Cunning -2 to the faction's Loyalty.
    • Vacancy penalty: -2 Loyalty, -2 Stability.
    • Currently vacant.
Ranks in the Leadership skill add to the bonuses.

If a character is absent from his duties (for example, a moff who is not in the faction's capital at least one week out of each month) the position is considered to be 'vacant' and the effects of vacancy are applied that month.

The faction's own "alignment" provides bonuses. The starting faction alignment for this game will be 'order' and 'dark' (lawful evil, in D&D terms). This provides a +4 bonus to Economy. The ruler, with the cooperation of the faction's citizens and assistance from his council, can attempt to change the alignment.
