Glad to see we didn't loose anyone. I left the IC at a vague place so that there was still time for any final plans to be made. Let me know when you are ready to 'Arrive at the base'

the journey...

Postby DeepSpacer » Mon Jul 11, 2016 4:35 pm

With a a boarding attempt so fresh on our minds, I think we'd be prepared first for an assault in space and then consider a ground attack (although, your comment seems to suggest that no space attack is imminent). Or, arrival just means arrival out of hyperspace.

I'll suggest some misdirection and plans, IC.
Do we have a layout of this old base?

You have a partial map of the facility. this is the main floor. However, it is outdated by several decades most of which the base has been abandoned.

To clarify, is the expected plan to be attacked in transit, or after arrival? Or could either happen?

You don't know. The mission that was put through the official channels is that you were sent to the asteroid to retrieve survey data. Several planetary scanners and exploration droids were left behind to fully survey the planet but no data has been transmitted. Additionally, the company had left behind an uncovered artifact from the asteroid belt. It was initially left behind and though to be useless, however, studies of the artifact's scans show it to be extremely valuable to the right parties. The artifact was packaged and placed into storage labeled as Unknown Artifact.

In reality,
You are trying to bait the pirates into attacking you. The corporation suspects that the pirates are monitoring their communications and as such will make an attempt to recover this "valuable" artifact. In reality they know of no real value and are simply adding it in as bait. They do with you to recover the survey data if possible and are offering a bonus if the data is recovered, more if the data shows the asteroid is worth mining again.

It seems like everyone is ready to move on but I will give it a day in case this further explanation changes things.

This sounds confusing. The artifact is a ruse to lure the Pirates in? But the mining data is real, if we can get it? The corporation is leaking information through open communication channels? If so, can we leave a certain arrival time, and then as a group, arrive 20 or 30 minutes early to catch them off guard?

Yes, it exists but as far as they are aware has no real value.

Yes, the data was supposed to have been transmitted but was never received. It was never of huge importance to the company but since you are going there they offered a bonus for retrieving it.

Sort of, The assignment was documented through normal internal channels. I.e. finance, logistics, board of directors, logged into their computers, etc.. These are supposed to be secure channels but the pirates seem to have gained accesses to information passed through these secure channels. You may add any mission details you would like to the report in the system such as anticipated arrival times.

I need an average astrogation check to be made and a piloting check as well.

Remember the faster you go the more difficult the piloting check but the sooner you will arrive at your destination.

Cool, that work. (Though, you can get one of the Astromechs to assist next time for a couple of Yellows)

Here's for the pilot droid:
Cruising Speed (Pilot): 2eP+1eA+2eD 1 success, 1 advantage, 1 Triumph
ImageImageImageImageImage
..whoa, good flying droid.

Not exactly sure how to use that Triumph. Ideas?

Add remaining difficulty to Pilot Check: 1eC+1eD 2 failures

Since the ship is a sil 5 and has to be going at least speed 1 we needed another difficulty and a challenge die. The end result is zero success (it cancels out the success inherent in the triumph) one advantage and the significant benefit portion of the triumph.

so....

I think I can work with that.

Ari will bring along K-9 and AT-ED. And 3PX, because she is loathe to trust it out of her sight. :P

All, I apologize for my absence I was quite unexpectedly without internet for a few days. --- short story

long story
Spoiler:
I went on vacation with my family and we forgot to pack the power cord to the laptop. The condo did not have any public computers and was well out of cell phone range. I did have limited access to wi-fi on my phone but it was... archaic...

Do we need to roll for repairs, or is it more of a narrative thing?

The repairs are simple, so it was more of a narrative way of showing your delay because of the "bad" ( net zero) piloting check. This is kind of a bonus encounter so we will see how it plays out.

The astromech will be able to decipher the code easily. It must be done by either a droid or a player using the ships computer however. Once that is described IC I will narrate the results.

The repairs to the ship are completed at this point. They did not take long they just required landing.

Repairs are finished and the ship my depart at any time. Another piloting check will be required to get to your destination. That is if there is nothing else you wish to do on this asteroid.
