"You guys are being hunted?" Eleena questioned, looking sideways at Argon, "Like actively? You better keep your heads a lot more down then they have been. Ryloth is crawling with Hunters."

"I see." Eleena said with a laugh and shake of her head, "That'll make getting off Ryloth again an interesting proposal for us all."

Nyn leads you and B’ura B’an down a narrow service tunnel which takes you under and beyond the walls of the city. A land speeder has been parked there, its navigational computer programmed to take you straight to the ryll mines.

Spoiler:
Since the speeder is not designed to handle 7 passengers (the 6 PCs plus B’ura B’an), everyone aboard will be packed a tad uncomfortably tight. This will cause all of you to accrue some strain on the journey, as well as add a setback to any init check (should one be necessary) while you remain aboard.

You have been speeding above the surface of the Ryloth badlands for a few hours, following the directions that should take you to the ryll mine. As you travel further from the spaceport, the terrain becomes increasingly hazardous, piles of loose rocks and jutting stone spurs litter the ground. To continue, you will either have to slow the speeder to a crawl or risk a collision.

As you maneuver your way around the rocky outcrops and boulders, you notice that cliffs rise about you. A tall bluff of rough red stone stands to your right, surrounded by more piles of loose rubble.

As you pass the bluff, there is a large crack and a flash of blinding light. The speeder slews around, spinning in circles. Smoke pours out of a hole in the chassis and it takes all your strength and skill to prevent the craft from flipping over. The craft comes to a sudden and jolting stop, burying its nose in a meter of sandy ground.

Silus is thrown free as the hovercraft slams into the ground, but he manages to roll with the impact and avoid the worst of the damage. Rising to one knee, he unslings his blaster rifle and begins to scan the horizon for the unknown assailant.

Spoiler:
Perception Check: 2eA 1 success, 2 advantage

If necessary this is a Maneuver to rise, two stress for an additional Maneuver to draw weapon, and then an action to look for bad guys.

As the party pick themselves up from the crash, whoops and jeering cries can be heard coming from the entrance of a dark cave at the base of the nearby bluff, at medium range from the speeder.

Silus sees a large round insect-like head appear within the cave entrance for a split second before quickly ducking back out of sight.

Eleena slammed hard into the back of the seat in front of her, the jamming of the extra bodies having prevented her from being ejected. Bruised but far more concerned about follow up attacks, the Twi'lek vaulted out of the damaged speeder and drew her pistol. Hearing the jeers, she put the speeder between herself and the mouth of the cave.

"Did anyone see who shot us?" She called out.

Argon sees the flash of light and instantly recognizes it. using the momentum of the speeder he throws him self to the side and rolls behind a bolder. The added force from the speeders momentum and the rocky terrain make the landing more difficult than Argon remembers. His shoulder will ach for a while if they survive this fight.

"Osik..." Garr was only a split second behind Argon, leaping upward and back to fight his momentum. His roll puts him near the rear of the immobilized speeder, ducking into the closest cover.

Belatedly, he realizes he's not sure where the shot came from, and the cover may do nothing for him. "Silus! Steer away from the blast next time, away!"

Ignoring Garr's criticism, Silus gestures towards the cave with his rifle, "Saw something over there. Looked like a bug."

Remembering Gand, he hastily adds, "Not that there's anything wrong with that."

Years of service with Republic military and less legitimate groups had taught Uqoza to recognize an ambush. As soon as he saw the flash of bright light, he began to brace for impact. When the speeder finally slams into the sand, his armored legs and arms absorb most of the impact. Eyeing the smoking speeder uneasily, Uquoza draws his blaster and moves away from the potentially explosive wreck.

At Silus's words, he turns to look towards the cave.

Experienced with vehicles as Gand was, Gand bailed out as soon as it started to whine and head for the sand. Unfortunately for Gand, Gand did not tuck and roll very well after striking the ground.

From within the cave: “Halt! Stay where you are and drop your weapons! We are agents of the local Imperial authorities and you are suspected of ryll smuggling. I repeat: stay where you are and drop your weapons!”

Sure you are. Eleena thought as she heard their attackers yell out. She risked one quick look over the speeder to see what kind of position they were in. It wasn't pretty. Well, if that's the game you want to play.

Eleena stood up from behind the speeder and put her hands up. "Alright!" She yelled "I'm coming out." She walked slowly and deliberately around the speeder, her eyes darting around and checking over the scene. "Honored Imperial Representatives, we were not carrying any ryll. Come see for yourselves."

"Good idea. Bring them out so we can shoot them," Garr says in a low whisper. Crouched behind the speeder, he checked the charge on his blaster.

In response to Eleena's "offer" a brilliant red bolt of plasma lances out and slams into the foolishly brave girl's left breast.

She takes 9 (base) + 1 (success) - 3 (soak) = 7 wounds. She is now at 10/12.

Eleena let out a cry as blast struck her, sending her off balance with both pain and impact. No stranger to sudden conflict, her first thought turned to finding cover. Under hard breaths, she sprinted for the closest protection she could find and dove down behind it, landing hard on her right side in an effort to protect her wounded side. Feeling a bit more secure, she struggled her last stim out of her belt and punched it into the wound.

Spoiler:
Maneuver: Move to closest cover.
Free: Go prone
Action -> Maneuver: Apply Stim

As the hidden assailants open fire, Silus sprints for cover behind one of the scattered boulders. Crouching, he raises his rifle coolly, with the calm poise of a practiced professional. But as he pulls the trigger, the thought of Eleena's wounded cry fills him with rage. Instead of the controlled bursts of fire that he had been trained to use, the young Rodian lets out a stream of blaster fire that fills the air--but does not find its mark.

Spoiler:
Ok, that seems fair. Here goes nothing. Silus will move to cover (maneuver), take 2 strain to aim, and then shoot back at the bad guys.

Returning Fire (Ranged Heavy): 2eP+2eA+1eB+3eD+2eS 0 successes, 1 threat

Well...that didn't go as planned.

"Oh, here! Let me bring you this one!" Charging forward, Garr waited until the last minute to open up with his blaster carbine.

Spoiler:

Ranged: Heavy on the cave people.: 2eD+2eS+2eA+1eP 0 successes, 1 threat

Argon, seeing the others push forward, rushes forwards and to the side in an attempt to outflank his opponents and get a better angle of attack while also looking for cover. Seeing some boulders Argon ducks for cover and fires back at his opponents. Without time to aim his shots go wild but his opponents shift into a slightly more open position for the others to aim at.

Spoiler:
1 maneuver to move forward and to the left, 1 maneuver (2 strain) to get behind cover, Action fire.
attack with E11 rifle: 3eD+2eS+2eA+1eP 4 failures, 1 advantage

As the others worked their way forward, Uqoza advanced towards his wounded ally. A practiced combat medic, he carefully lay down his own suppressing fire as he went. In order to properly tend to Eleena, he rationalized, he needed a safe space.

He heard a faint scream from their attackers as he slid into cover next to the Twi'lek and smiled grimly to himself.

Spoiler:
Maneuver: Head to cover with Eleena
Action: Return Fire

"Gand is going to regret this," the fringer said quietly as he to sprang out of cover and charged alongside Garr. Unlike Gand's ally, Gand fires only a couple careful shots during his advance, sending the bolts deep into the dark but failing to strike anything of substance.
