Seeing his last opponent fall, the rush of adrenaline starts leaving Garr's system. He turns and begins a quick jog down the stairs, but stops at the bottom when he hears the whine of a blaster bolt. He shakes his head. "Sithspawn. Well, nothing I can do now." He resumes his jog to the base of the ramp, confronted by the trandoshan's corpse. "I sure hope you were as big a scumbag as they said, that you deserved this," he says as he crouches over the body and checks the pockets.

The bounty hunter has a code cylinder, a heavy blaster pistol (near his hand), a comlink, and an emergency repair kit.

"Gand requires a code cylinder to start the ship!" Gand yells to Gand's comrades, running back to Trex's corpse. "Was there a code cylinder on the hunter's body?" When Garr holds up the code cylinder, Gand grabs it, returns to the cockpit, and resumes pre-flight. Gand keeps a watchful eye through the canopy, craning Gand's neck to see as much of the hangar bay as Gand can.

While Gand doesn't notice it, for everyone else a rank smell permeates the vessel. After inserting the code cylinder and activating the ship's main console, several warning alert icons display on the navigational computer’s VDU:

  • A large flashing red script in the center of the screen – “Fuel Low”.
  • A small flashing icon in the shape of a crescent moon, or fang.
  • An irritating and intermittent pop-up in Trandoshan script.
  • A flashing red icon in the form of a simplified cage.

Gand grips the controls and keys the repulsorlifts. Whatever those warnings are can be seen to once everyone is out of Teemo's reach. "Hold on!" Gand calls as he punches the throttle and heads for open space. Once clear of the spaceport, Gand begins searching for buttons associated with the warning icons and does everything he can to figure out what's going on.

The Krayt Fang thrums around you as its engines power up, lifting through the hangar bay doors and into the bright sunslight of the Tatooine sky. Soon, Mos Shuuta vanishes behind you as you race out over the Dune Sea and climb towards space.

Suddenly, an alert klaxon blares! As you leave Tatooine's atmosphere, several spherical fighters with distinctive hexagonal wing assemblies appear on the ship's scanners, screaming in on an intercept course - TIE fighters! The starfighters shoot past, laser cannons blazing, and sparks fly from a console in the cockpit - you've been hit! You're not clear of the planet's gravity well yet, and can't jump to lightspeed without the hyperspace reactor igniter installed. You'll have to deal with these TIE fighters first.

"Someone get on the guns!" Gand yells, throwing the ship into a corkscrew evasive maneuver. "And get that igniter installed, we've gotta get out of here!"

"Already on the guns!" Inyri calls as she scrambles up the ladder to the dorsal turret and straps in, stomach churning with the barrel roll. With a flip of a switch, the guns are powered up - just in time for the TIEs.

She tosses the headset around her neck and pumps the right pedal, swiveling the guns to track the TIEs as they fly by. With a squeeze of the trigger, she unleashes four streams of scarlet blaster fire into one of the hexagonal wings.

"Try to keep them above us," she adds into the mic, scanning the skies. "We've got a soft belly."

1 strain to use True Aim for an upgrade and a Boost, plus a Boost from Accurate. 2 Difficulty for difference in Silhouette.

Open fire on the TIEs: 2eD + 1eA + 2eP + 2eB = 3 successes, 1 advantage, 1 Triumph.
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

I'd like to use the Advantage to give Gand a Boost on his next Pilot test. 5+3 = 8 damage. Should knock out one TIE.

With that Triumph, I'd like to drop a second TIE (assuming they're functioning like true minion groups). Alternatively (GM forbidding that), I'll pass an upgrade to the next ally to act.

Inyri's shot shears off the 'wing' of one of the TIEs and the out-of-control fighter snaps over into the path of his wingmate. The two vessels collide and explode, reducing the number of opponents by half.

Gand throws the ship into a barrel roll, trying to stay out of the attack vector of the remaining TIEs. Gand then yanks back on the control yoke, throwing the ship into a tight loop, keeping the other TIEs in the ship's top quarter so Inyri can keep them in her sights. The ship protests against Gand's wild maneuvering as Gand exceeds the spaceframe's G limits, but Gand continues his maneuvers anyway.

Starting at speed 4. Action to gain the advantage over the TIE minion group (I assumed it's a normal YT-1300 with -1 handling, let me know if I should reroll that part), which succeeds with 1 Threat. I'm assuming that goes to System Strain, but if it's something else I'm happy to change the description. After gaining the advantage I use a maneuver to perform evasive maneuvers
Gain the advantage: 2eP+1eA+2eD+1eS 3 successes, 1 threat

The remaining pair of Imperial fighters scream past the freighter, revenge for their fellow pilots foremost on their minds. The TIEs slam laser cannon bolts into the Krayt Fang's unshielded port and starboard quarters, ripping apart over half of the ship's armor plates. The stolen vessel cannot survive another such firing pass by the enemy.

attack: 2eP+1eA+1eC+1eD+1eB 3 successes, 2 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImage
The Krayt Fang takes two 6-trauma hits (after armor soak), putting the ship at 12/22 HT.

Destiny Pool: 8 Light Side, 1 Dark Side
All remaining players may take their actions and finish the first turn of combat. All PCs are now at Image to all skill checks due to the overpowering stench within the ship, compounded by the smell of burning circuitry from the ongoing attack.

Hearing and feeling the sounds of battle, Argon scurry’s towards the remaining torrent flinging himself in to the gunners chair. He quickly swings the torrent into position catching site of the ties out of the corner of his eye. Without any time to aim Argon fires, hoping that good luck will prevail. A hail a blaster blots springs forth from his position screaming towards the enemy fighters hitting one of them as it moves past his position.

Garr makes it to the engine room just as the first TIE pass wreaks havoc on the ship. He skids to a halt, a panel exploding in a spray of sparks ahead of him.

"Just my luck. He didn't bother with little things like fail safes or redundancies. Ah, well, at least he left the panel open for the hyperdrive."

He steps into the room, zips open his toolkit bag and begins to install the igniter in its chamber.

Strugglig back to conciusness, Fabrizzo wonders how someone who keeps a blaster on stun got a reputation as nasty as Trex.

Struggling to his feet, he saw green lasers flash by and almost lost his footing. "Are those Ties? I hear they have yaw problems in atmosphere- watch how they move!" he shouted toward the turrets.

"C'mon, c'mon..." Inyri mutters, mind tense and trigger half-depressed. The chatter below, even her own words, are barely registering on her brain - every bit of her focus is on survival.

As the fighters come at the Krayt Fang from both sides, guns blazing, she opens fire on the one in front of her. Red lances rip molten holes through the cockpit just before it passes overhead. Without bothering to see what happened to the TIE, she focuses on the other, which is just entering her field of view. Another trigger pull fills the sky with too many shots for the pilot to avoid them all.

Taking a total of 3 strain to use True Aim, then aim again, then open fire on the TIE fighters. Flipping a destiny point for an upgrade.

Gunnery to shoot the TIEs: 2eD+1eS+3eP+2eB 2 successes, 3 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

That's 5+2 = 7 damage, and 3 advantage is enough for a Critical, so one is down, and the wounded TIE ought to be finished by the 7 damage. Assuming of course, the GM is merciful and lets me crit the one that is undamaged.

I did, however, forget my Boost die from Accurate... Which amounts to nothing anyways:

Forgotten boost die: 1eB 0 successes

Both TIEs explode gratifyingly. There's nothing left barring your escape from Tatooine -- except for the small matter of the HMRI.
Need a ImageImage Mechanics check from Garr (with Image due to the gagging stench aboard, as previously noted).

Garr seizes a moment where the ship stops wrenching to slip the inducer coil over the end of the crystal. It snaps into place with a gratifying clank.

2 ranks gearhead turns 1 setback to 1 advantage.

"Gand thanks you for your excellent gunnery. It appears we are safe. For the moment." Gand says as Gand plots a course for some nearby interstellar space (the most important thing is to leave Tatooine now, after all, and we can figure out where to go next once we get clear), and throws the hyperdrive lever.

The jump the Krayt Fang made to light speed has seen you to the edge of the Tatooine system without further problems. However, you must plot a course through hyperspace in order to reach a new destination. Despite the vessel’s dilapidated condition, it seems to hold together and handles well. A whole galaxy is now yours to explore. Free from the grasp of Teemo the Hutt, you could kick back and relax a little, getting used to your new surroundings. You haven’t had much time to get to know this ship, and it certainly could do with some alterations before you could comfortably call it home. A rank smell continues to permeate the vessel, and several warning alert icons (three of them new) are displayed on the navigational computer’s VDU.

Suddenly, before you can even think of engaging the hyperdrive and leaving the Tatooine system, a loud klaxon begins to wail and the sound of a dozen snorting and growling voices can be heard echoing over the ship’s PA system. The Krayt Fang begins to shudder and shake; clearly not all is well aboard the stolen freighter.

"Anytime, Gand..." When the noise starts blasting on the PA, she adds, "The frak is that? Can you get it off the PA while we check it out?"

Inyri pulls off the headset and slides down the ladder, readying her rifle again and heading for the cargo hold with the others. She is trying to muscle around her instinct to gag while scanning the area. Her efforts to track down the source are however, fruitless.

"Inyri. Any luck finding that smell? It seems to be coming from everywhere. This place reminds me of a Gammorean tavern I was once unfortunate enough to stumble into." Argon shudders as the memory floods back into his mind.
