While Rico, the pilots, and the droids remain at the ambush site, the other three members of Iceberg ferry the three Imperial prisoners to the proving ground, drop them off with a pair of canteens apiece, and then return to the ambush site. Once reunited, the group very carefully makes its way to the top of the hill where the sniper's bunker is located.

Beginning approximately thirty minutes after your ambush on the group your captured radio begins to come alive requesting status reports. The communication signals become more and more aggravated as they are repeated at fifteen minute intervals for the next hour.

With a safety line tied to his load gear and around his waist, Rath is lowered head-down by his teammates until his head is just above the bunker's firing slit. Calling upon the Force to guide his aim, Rath swiftly arms a knockout gas grenade and lobs it through the opening. The grenade lands precisely between the sniper within and his spotter, detonating on impact. The powerful, invisible gas envelops both Imperials, incapacitating them nearly instantly. Both bodies collapse silently to the floor. Rath takes a deep breath, plays out some more line, and swings himself into the bunker, squeezing through its firing slit. Once inside, he opens the bunker's door, allowing the air to clear more quickly and his companions to enter.

Rico grabs some proton charges from the "cargo" droid, and heads towards the fortuitous cliff overhang under which some foolish Imperial decided to place a barracks building. As he quietly does this, the three pilots head stealthily towards the captured Rebel starfighters with the intent of taking them back. The remainder of the SpecForce team position themselves at the main bunker, using it for cover from the rest of the base. Rath aims in the direction of the command bunker, while Rob and Tasha aim towards the barracks.

Just over a minute later, a large explosion sends a substantial portion of the cliff crashing down over the barracks, signalling the pilots to power up their craft.

Rico flicks the selector swich on his rife to 'auto' and sprays a fusillade of blaster bolts at the Imperials within the AP gun emplacement closest to him. It looks impressive, but has no real effect as the range is just too great and the bolts scatter too widely to hit anyone.

Spoiler:
aimed attack on autofire: 1eP+1eA+3eB+4eD 1 failure
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Rob follows suit with his own rifle, with an identical result.

Spoiler:
aimed attack on autofire: 1eP+1eA+3eB+4eD 1 failure

Tasha and Rath each wait for closer targets, as G2 moves down the path from the sniper bunker and over to the location of the X-wing. ASP-N follows G2, veering off to hide behind the main bunker instead. Rico orders the pilots to open fire with laser cannons on the AP gun emplacements.

Spoiler:
They'll not be aimed attacks, as the pilots have no maneuvers available after lifting off and pointing their craft at the targets. The attacks will be Silhouette 3 versus 1 for the gun emplacements (Hard), at close planetary range. Their first target is the (northern) AP gun battery that both Rico and Rob sprayed, but missed.

The three pilots arrive at the fighters with enough time to clear the area and perform initial flight checks. Disappointed, they move past the X-wing, whose engine lies disassembled on a workbench previously hidden by the canopy. The two Y-wings each have panels open on their side, indicating they, too, were being worked on.
Image
Durian pats his fighter on the side, recognizing her instantly. "Its good to see you again, old friend," he mutters under his breath, before realizing that several components have been disconnected and need to be reinstalled. looking around, he finds them sitting nearby.
Image
Kriel Draykon sees nothing wrong and jumps into his fighter, which begins to power up the moment of the explosion. Vrei seizes the opportunity, jumping right into the fancy new fighter she recognized from earlier.
Image
Powering up the engines on cue, she launches into the air, followed by Draykon. The deafening blast of the cliff passes and is replaced by the orders to blow the AP guns with the starfighters.
Image
Reacting on instinct, Vrei blasts the first AP gun with her lasers. She sees parts go flying everywhere, as well as the ejection of three new mangled humanoid forms. Draykon targets the second, knocking it out of commission. The power drain from the weapons causes his warning indicators to light up, indicating his fighter is on emergency fuel reserves.

Jeetoo arrives on the scene as the fighters are firing cannons and begins installing parts on the second Y-wing in a hurry. The pilot starts collecting parts and in no time the fighter is reassembled. Durin climbs up inside, powering up the engines easily.

The sudden onslaught of explosions causes a stir, and several moments pass before two rifle-armed troopers come storming out of the command building followed by a fellow in an officer's uniform carrying a pistol. The troopers take aim at Jeetoo, which they recognize as not being from the base. The troopers fire connects with their target easily, but the officer, in fine militarily tradition, hits nothing but the starfighter.

Tasha, hearing blaster fire coming from the command bunker, moves next to Rath (who's kneeling and aiming around the corner of the main bunker), flicks the selector on her rifle to 'lethal', aims, and fires at the rifle-armed troopers.

Spoiler:

Damage: 11+2=13 - (soak - Pierce 1); this should be a kill on both, unless they're wearing something heavier than heavy clothing. If they are, I'll use the Triumph to kill the 2nd mook. Otherwise I'll pass an upgrade to Rath.

Both troopers drop, their black Imperial Army uniforms skewered by brilliant crimson bolts from a Rebel SpecForce operative who has restrained her desire for vengeance for too long. The foolishly brave Intelligence officer, stunned into momentarily standing still by the quick demise of his guards, is blown off of his feet by the power of Rath's carefully aimed bolt slamming dead center into his chest.

Rico begins to retrace his route back to the path between the sniper bunker and the main bunker. As Rob and Tasha move around the west side of the main bunker to its entrance, Rath focuses on attuning himself to the Force and whatever life forms are inside the bunker that his companions will soon be attempting to breach. Fear for his associates clouds his perception, preventing him from sensing the Imperial personnel that must surely be within.

With Tasha covering his back, Rob makes short work of the security keypad and the door to the bunker slides open, revealing an empty hallway extending left and right. "I don't like the looks of this. It's too quiet. I smell a trap. Let's send in the cam-droids," Rob comments. Tasha nods agreement, and moments later a pair of J57s zip inside and split up, one going down each corridor.

The first droid, heading left, finds a sharp 90 degree turn at the end of the corridor. Making the turn the droid sees a door at the end to the right with a keypad. Next to the door is a firing slot exposing the entire corridor to blaster fire while protecting the individual firing. The droid immediately ducks back around the corner, bouncing hard off a wall in its haste to retreat. The second droid, going right, finds the same thing mirror imaged, and grazes a wall as it uses its thrusters to immediately reverse course, getting out of the line of fire.

Tasha and Rob hear the noise of a something dropping through a mechanical system instants before a pair of fragmentation grenades appear out of small holes near the bottom of the door, which they had previously not noticed. The doorway is rocked by explosions engulfing them both.

Tasha screams in agony as Rob pulls her with him away from the trap. They both stagger back to where Rath is waiting, a stim in each of the medic's hands. Rico, observing what's taken place from the vantage point of the third cam droid, orders Vrei to strike the bunker entrance at the location of the grenade trap with a missile.

Draykon targets the comm array with his fighter's lasers and crimson bolts from both cannons rip into the array. Vrei locks precise coordinates into the proton torpedoes' guidance systems and she fires. The warheads strike the ground exactly on each of the openings where moments before grenades spat out from, digging deep into the ground and sending an enormous fireball through the bunker's open doorway.

The fireball momentarily blocks all sight of the bunker, but as the smoke and flames clear the walls to either side of the entrance have collapsed, revealing two additional hallways which run along the outside of the building. A large pile of electronics and concrete partially obstructs the entrance to both hallways as well as the main entrance.

Rath expertly applies a stimpack to Tasha. Rico arrives at the "airfield" and begins to reverse the partial disassembly of the X-wing to make it ready for flight. After healing himself with the stimpack given to him by Rath, Rob moves to the door at the command bunker and checks to see if it's locked. The Rebel starfighters overhead continue to provide aerial observation and are ready to fire on any Imperials they spot. Tasha sends the last remaining cam droid to inspect the two newly-revealed hallways as she aims her rifle to provide covering fire should Rob need it.

Spoiler:
Turn #3
Rath (action): Stimpack Application 2 heals 7 wounds on Tasha (now at 2 wounds + the critical).
Rob (action): stimpack heals all 5 wounds, (move) to command bunker entrance.
Fighters reserving their actions for opportunity fire.
Tasha is also reserving her action for opportunity fire.
Rico acts last in the turn.

Before reaching the door to the command bunker, Rob spots another trap, all too similar to the one at the main bunker, but with even more openings. He also notices a small camera in the top right of the entrance above the door. The camera appears to have both an audio and a visual pickup. Rob addresses those inside: "You have two choices. You can open the door and exit the bunker with your hands on top of your heads. Or you can remain inside and we'll happily do to this entire bunker what we did to the entrance of the other bunker. Our fighter pilots are waiting for my signal. You have ten seconds to decide."

Spoiler:
This is said before the Imperials acted in Turn #3. If they choose to be stubborn, the fighters will be attacking the bunker at the bottom of Turn #3.

Rob orders the Imperials to kneel, keeping their hands on top of their heads as he covers them with his rifle, setting the weapon's selector to the 'stun' setting. Rico, continuing to work on restoring the X-wing to operational status, orders the Bantha to come to the base and the two Y-wings to escort the freighter. Vrei is to remain over the base providing continuing cover and aerial reconnaissance.

Rath applies first aid to Tasha, removing the cause of her dizziness and sealing her wounds. Now feeling much better, she heads over to the prisoners and begins to bind each of them.

Reassured that the team has the situation under control and in a calmer state of mind, Rath again attempts to attune himself to the Force, this time succeeding. He uses his connection to the Force to seek out the presence and location of any life forms remaining within the main bunker and notes their positions on his datapad.

Once the prisoners are bound, Tasha has them lie prone, covering them with her own rifle, also set to stun. Rath, using the cam droid and his new 'map' of where the Imperials are, enters the main bunker, going left first, and calls out: "The officers in the command bunker have surrendered. Everyone in the barracks is dead. Please surrender. We don't want any more casualties."

Meanwhile, Rob takes the code cylinder(s) from both the living and dead officers, then enters the command bunker and examines the interior, carefully.

At first Rath does not receive an answer to his calls. As the cam droid makes it way through the new exposed "secret" corridor the reason for the silence becomes readily apparent. The corridor opens to a platform with a now toasty imperial lying near the firing port. The platform extends inwards just far enough to allow access through the side door before descending to a lower level The top of the stairwell is blocked by a large door easily distinguished as one used to block sound from either entering or exiting the room.

Rob has no trouble accessing the command bunker, The doors had been left open during the exodus of the prior inhabitants. Both corridors lead to a command room in the center lined with various computers and view screens. Upon entering Rob notices that each of the monitors displays rapidly flashing text which he recognizes as the computer systems deleting themselves.

Rath quickly scans the thoughts of the man facing him. Aloud, he says in a kindly tone, "Hello. We're conducting a surprise inspection of your facility. Would you please be so kind as to give me a tour?" He then continues to read what the man's thoughts are in response to what Rath just said.
