This game is an Infinity, the premise of which is:

Anakin Skywalker arrives a few seconds too late to stop Mace Windu from killing Palpatine. In his rage at the loss of what he believes is the only means by which his wife might be saved, he kills the Jedi Master by hurling him out the window using the Force. Skywalker assumes command of the Grand Army of the Republic and initiates Order 66. Consumed by the Dark Side, he and the 501st Legion then kill everyone in the Jedi Temple. Meanwhile, General Grievous kills Obi-wan Kenobi on Utapau before Order 66 is received. Grievous then escapes to continue leading the CIS. Yoda kills Skywalker in the Senate building. Bail Organa becomes Supreme Chancellor in an emergency session of the Senate.

The Separatists obliterate Tipoca City by orbital bombardment, ending clone production. Less than six months later, Coruscant falls to the ever-increasing might of the Separatist droid armies, as does Alderaan and many other worlds. Without replacement clones, the Army of the Republic cannot sustain escalating battle losses. Grievous declares himself Emperor after eliminating a couple of CIS leaders and several Republic senators. This example is not lost on outspoken senators like Mon Mothma and Garm Bel Iblis, who flee and join Bail Organa, Padme Amidala (and her twins), and the remnants of the Republic navy out in the Rim Territories. A much-reduced Jedi Order led by Yoda scatters as the Empire mercilessly hunts them down.

The Clone Wars segues directly into the Galactic Civil War, with the Alliance to Restore the Republic fighting an insurgency against the new Empire. What would normally be 19 BBY in a canon timeline becomes year zero of the Imperial Era (0 IE). The campaign begins a few months after the creation of the Empire. The galaxy remains fractured and ablaze. Many sectors continue to openly resist the Empire, and with the bulk of what used to be the Republic navy under rebel control, the Empire is far from having the iron grip on the galaxy it would have had under the rule of Sith lords.

The Rebel fleet does contain clones. On the few ships that have both Jedi and clones aboard, relations are frigid between them. While the clones hold no antipathy for surviving Jedi (the clones were just following orders), the Jedi, understandably, do not trust clones after troops that had been thought to be honorable turned on their commanders. The Jedi Order was betrayed, and most Jedi will not work with clones, viewing them as less human than a protocol droid. At least droids are loyal.

Character creation rules are as follows:

  • There may be up to 6 PCs.
  • All FFG books may be used.
  • No more than 4 PCs may be Force-sensitive, and there can be no more than one non-Jedi Force-sensitive PC.
  • Characters that are Jedi-trained will be created based on the rules in FaD, including the use of Morality as the basis for extra starting XP or credits.
  • All non-Jedi characters will have 10 spendable Obligation (20 total), regardless of which book their career/spec is from, and a starting Morality of 50. No PCs begin with Duty, as none of the PCs begin as members of the Alliance.
  • One character must be a 'face'. That PC can be a Jedi Padawan. The key requirement is that the PC must have at least 1 skill rank in both Charm and Negotiation (with 2 in each by far preferable).
  • One character must be a skilled pilot. This PC cannot be a Jedi. This character will begin the game owning a light freighter, for which he will have a massive debt (Obligation).
  • No two Jedi may have the same career. I want diversity in character designs and roles within the party.
  • Jedi-trained PCs may select Force powers as if they had been purchased post-creation with the benefit of having a Mentor.
  • Jedi-trained PCs begin with a standard lightsaber, concealing robes, and a comlink at no cost. All other gear and upgrades must be paid for.
  • Only species that existed within the Republic prior to the Clone Wars are permitted. (No Chiss or other species from Wild Space or the Unknown Regions.)
  • Species that FFG has not (yet) provided stats for may be allowed, subject to GM approval.

Character slots:

Huh, this looks interesting. I'm not sure I have the time to join another game, but I've still got a couple of world questions.

Is Kuat still in Republic/Resistance hands, and are the separatists still using mostly H&K designs? Which is to say, are our rebels still using Clone War Republic/Imperial ships while our CIS Empire uses Confederacy style ships, or is it more like the original galactic civil war?

What year is the game actually taking place in?

How restrictive/oppressive is the new CIS Empire?

How 'even' is the civil war? Is it more of the plucky underground rebels of ANH, or the strategic war of the Clone Wars?

Is the CIS Empire still using mostly droid soldiers/crew?

An then, on the game itself:

How much of this is Edge of the Empire type survival, as opposed to getting into the thick of the galactic exchange? It sounds like from the character creation that we're not going to be 'republic operatives' for example.

Does the pilot get to pick the Light Freighter, or do you have something in mind?

No, Kuat is controlled by the Empire. See this page.

The Empire is still mostly using CIS ships with droid crews, with a smattering of new designs for ships crewed by organics. For example, early model TIE fighters are very rare in Imperial service. Only the captured non-CIS shipyards are producing non-CIS designs. The page I linked to above indicates which planets are ex-CIS and thus still producing CIS designs, and which are not ex-CIS, and thus producing organic-crewed vessels. Obviously, places like Kuat and Rendili would be prime targets for Rebel operations aimed at stealing ships (rather than just sabotage of facilities).

The Rebels are using Old Republic designs.

Quicksilver wrote:What year is the game actually taking place in?

1 IE (Imperial Era), which would be 18 BBY in the non-Infinity timeline. It is just under a year from the end of the Clone Wars.

Quicksilver wrote:How restrictive/oppressive is the new CIS Empire?

Very. Much more so than Palpatine's Empire. Palpatine was still trying to maintain popular support from the (human) population of the galaxy for his New Order. Grievous cares not for anyone's opinion but his own, and he has little regard for organic life (even less so than Palpatine). And, yes, this Empire is building the Death Star. And it won't take them 18 years to complete it. It'll be operational a great deal sooner than that. But the existence of the Death Star project is not known to anyone in the Alliance, and the project will not likely factor into this campaign. There are other dangers, of nearly equal threat and that are unique to this Infinity, that drives the main plot line. Discovering the existence of such threats, and dealing with them, will be up to the PCs.

Quicksilver wrote:How 'even' is the civil war? Is it more of the plucky underground rebels of ANH, or the strategic war of the Clone Wars?

It is more "strategic", but the Empire is winning the war. The Rebels are being outproduced and are losing ships faster than they, and more importantly, their crews, can be replaced when they confront Imperial fleets head-on. Why is why the Rebels no longer seek to engage in fleet-on-fleet actions. They're using tactics not dissimilar to those of the Rebels in the canon Galactic Civil War, only on a much larger scale, since this Infinity's Rebels are far better equipped, far more numerous and widespread, and have outright control of many planets, including some with major shipyards (see here).

Quicksilver wrote:Is the CIS Empire still using mostly droid soldiers/crew?

Yes.

Quicksilver wrote:How much of this is Edge of the Empire type survival, as opposed to getting into the thick of the galactic exchange? It sounds like from the character creation that we're not going to be 'republic operatives' for example.

No more than one of the PCs may begin the game as a Rebel operative, and that PC would have to be a Jedi.

Quicksilver wrote:Does the pilot get to pick the Light Freighter, or do you have something in mind?

The pilot will own a stock YT-2400.

So, I take it the campaign is being rebooted?
You still looking for players?
If available I'd like to play a Jedi.

Welcome back! Yes, the campaign is being rebooted. And, yes, you may begin creating your own Jedi PC.
