Hardnox will request directional feedback from someone aboard the ship fire comlink. Best to get clear Direction so that we may Advance quickly.

K-9 runs down the boarding ramp, weaves past the cluster of battle droids, and uses its senses to seek the nearest living organics or droids (other than those from the Blue).

The group cautiously makes their way through the extremely large cargo hold. The entirety of which wraps around the outside portion of the ship. Upon reaching the back a single turn toward the right leads to the center portion of the ship containing all of the command and control features of the ship. Making their way gradually forward they locate the entrance to the bridge. A large security door blocks their path and two security cameras in an obvious manner letting the group know they are being watched. A voice comes through the internal intercom system. "This is your last warning drop your weapons power down the droids and place your hands on your heads."

door?

Postby DeepSpacer » Thu Mar 02, 2017 8:11 pm

Owyn hesitates at hearing the verbal warning. Then he notices that no one puts down their weapons. Carrying all of his gear with him, he looks over to Ari and the others, motions with a hand and points at the door, and then points to his gear (lock-breaker and computer) ... looking for approval to attempt to open the door.

Seeing Eckhal's frustration Ari steps towards him offering a few words of encouragement and holding tools as necessary. Just few minutes later the blast doors come flying open. Hardnox and the droids immediately step between the door and the group working on the lock.

Seventeen civilians wearing unrecognizable uniforms, which you believe identify them as freighter crew, are kneeling on the floor between you and three Imperial Intelligence security personnel which are holding heavy repeating blasters pointed at the group. Further back, three additional civilians are kneeling. These civilians are wearing similar uniforms to the first but, with additional insignia you can barely make out. An Imperial customs inspector holds a blaster to the head of the one in the center while two more security personnel hold their weapons to the heads of the other two.

Decisions....

Postby DeepSpacer » Fri Mar 03, 2017 9:46 am

"This is not honorable!" says Hardnox in a lower tone of voice, which the opponents may overhear. "A true warrior spares the innocent."

Owyn cowers nervously, waiting for someone to speak to our new adversaries.

In an equally low tone, but not so softly that the Imperials cannot hear her, she counters Hardnox, "They're not warriors. Nor are they what they're pretending to be: Imperial agents. They're common pirates. Criminal thugs. Real Imperial agents do not hold innocent commercial crews hostage at gunpoint, and they don't threaten to commit suicide with military-grade explosives." She raises her voice, then says, "We were sent by this crew's corporate headquarters to render assistance to their disabled vessel. We were warned that this vessel might be attacked by pirates. It seems that the company's fears were correct. Who are you, really, and what do you want?"

Ari keeps her weapon aimed at the group of three 'Imperials' holding the bulk of the crew hostage.

"You proclaim their innocence in the same breath you say they are complicit in your rebellious activity. If you do not think we are Imperials then activate the emergency signal on that console." The lead imperial says as he nods towards a console near the door. The console is a basic comms station with the ability to jettison an emergency buoy or activate a repeating emergency signal. "This crew is under arrest for acts of rebellion against the empire. This ship and its cargo are now the property of the imperial intelligence branch."

"Wow!"Owyn thinks to himself."An ACTUAL Imperial Communication Station!!! I've never seen one of these up close!" His natural curiosity with such things overtakes his sense of fear. He slowly approaches the station that is near the door, careful not to do anything aggressive.

Being somewhat intelligent, Owyn knows that this can buy us some time and possibly diffuse the situation by dragging it out. He'll make careful inspection of the station, (discretely) plug in, and hesitantly begin navigating the console, but do it deliberately slow. He'll look to verify that the console can indeed send out a buoy and emergency signal, for the sake of the Imperials, but will look to see if it is connected to any other things he can manipulate or control (like terminals, controls, etc...). After delaying a while, he verify, "It is as he says. An emergency signal can be sent from here."
Spoiler:
Before any difficulties....it may not even warrant a check, but I thought I'd try. Owyn may not know how connected these devices are. Checking the Console: 2eP+2eA 4 successes, 3 advantage

Deception to stall....: 2eP+1eA 5 successes

convo

Postby DeepSpacer » Sat Mar 04, 2017 10:56 pm

The large, heavily-armored, vibrosword-bearing Nikto steps forward to speak,"You may very well be Imperial Intelligence! But right now, the intelligent thing to do is to walk out of here with your lives so that you may continue to confiscate ships and their crews into the future. If you come across this same ship in the future, then I have no problem with you taking it for your own. But we came for this vessel and its crew. We are not leaving."

"There is no honor in shedding the blood of unarmed men and there is no glory in dying before the necessary time."
Hardnox gestures to the open hallway behind him. "The path to live another day is clear.....for ALL of you. All you have to do is LEAVE."
Spoiler:
This could possibly be a combined skill check for Charm, or something another skill. But Hardnox feels compelled to offer an honorable way out.

A few tense moments pass as the Imperials consider Hardnox's words. The soldiers look anxiously towards their leader awaiting some sign. Finally, after what seems like hours but was only thirty seconds, the Imperial orders his men to drop their weapons and surrender. He lowers his weapons towards the group and takes a step back. The others begin following suit. The Imperial with the grenade shows a sudden flash of anger, lifting the grenade quickly while yelling "For the Emperor!" The grenade explodes, turning the Imperial into a fine mist which spreads throughout the bridge. The force of the grenade's blast passes over the kneeling figures leaving them unharmed.

Ari orders, "Clankers, collect the weapons."

The battle droids acknowledge, "Roger-roger!"

Ari then says, "Freighter crew, please resume your stations. If any of you are injured, please let us know and we'll take care of your needs. Eckhal, please ascertain the current status of this ship. Owyn, try to find out if any signals have already been sent, and make sure that no further signals are sent. Hardnox, you and MidDen, please bind our Imperial guests and along with K-9 escort them to suitable quarters and hold them there."

Ari will explicitly ask that the freighter crew man their ship's weapons stations and maintain an active sensor watch. Then she approaches the crewmember who appears to be the captain and takes him aside. "You and I have much to discuss, Captain."

The individual identified as the Captain steps to the side with Ari, maintaining his silence. A slew of emotions running across his face makes the captain's mood completely unreadable.

One of the ship's crew informs Ari that the weapons are controlled by droid brains and receive their orders from the bridge.

"It was a routine customs inspection they were just finishing up when you dropped out of hyperspace. They had us track you with our scanners, and when you fired commandeered the ship to aid in the assault. Until you told them you were with us, they though we were under attack by pirates. Now they will likely hunt us down. Do you have any idea the predicament you have placed my ship in?"

"Doesn't look like they did, Boss."replies Owyn as he stares at the terminal.

"These Imperial men.... It will be honorable to set them down at the nearest location. A ship THIS size must have escape pods or a shuttle. "Escape" is a good word for what those men avoided. There's probably a habitable planet nearby."says Hardnox.

"Thank you, Owyn." Ari then addresses the freighter Captain again. "We're going to repair your ship, which is what we came to do. The Empire shouldn't know what my crew did on your ship. Not unless you or one of your crew report it. If you, or one of your crew, does inform the Empire, for some reward, things will probably not go well for you, personally, as the Empire has an annoying tendency to hold people responsible for things that they cannot control. But I can assure you that whomever does try to ingratiate themselves with the Empire will not live long enough to enjoy any reward they might get. I have friends, powerful ones, who would exact vengeance for me.

"After we complete the repairs to your ship, you're going to proceed as if nothing has happened. None of you will tell anyone anything. You had a mechanical problem, and your company sent a crew to fix the problem. That's all. I'll have our experts slice your computers so that your logs do not show that you were ever here. Your ship problem happened in another system. If anyone asks, that's where you were. Not in this system. Your logs will have a different description of us and our ship. If anyone asks, you will tell them what is in your logs. Nothing more, and nothing different. This should keep you, and us, safe."

The captain stares at Ari for a few minutes, unsure at first. He trembles visibly during her speech, not at the threats but at each mention of the Empire. Eventually the thought of getting away from the situation overtakes him and he agrees. "I want you off of my ship as soon as the repairs and alterations are completed. This is chief engineer Nika Nord. She is to accompany your 'experts' during all of their modifications." The captain pauses for a moment before continuing. "The details of this event will certainly not be discussed, but you can be certain the corporation will be receiving a very unfavorable report on your organization. Now if you have nothing else for me I will be in my quarters. Let Nika or my executive officer know when the repairs are finished or you need anything."
