swrider wrote:Knobs don't need power. neither do labels... because of my job I can look at nearly any piece of x-ray equipment and give you a basic idea of what it is capable of and how recent the technology is. Even if it is not functional. Granted having power does add a lot to what you can learn.

Most stuff in Star Wars doesn't have knobs, but that's just quibbling. But even if they did, a knob on a radio does nothing informative if the radio is turned off. Ditto buttons. Even less if the controls are all on a touch screen. Ever seen a Star Trek Next-Gen bridge console? Powered off they're uninformative furniture. Without a magic tricorder you can't even tell what purpose they serve.

I'll grant that there might be labels. Or maybe not. Depends on the item and the maker. If it was made by Verpine I think you'd be out of luck. :P

But you as GM would have to answer questions about how recent it is. Though in Star Wars, a hundred or even a thousand year old model would still have game-mechanically the same stats. {shrug}

I noticed that. I'm also wading through replying to posts, and non-game stuff. I also tend to reply to OOC threads before IC ones.

Patience.

That's because FFG, in their infinite wisdom, didn't provide us with one. Just pretend it's a fancier, better looking upgrade of a 2-1B.

Typical, I was thinking it was one of those multi-armed cylindrical jobs. Ah well.

Those are much older models (created by WEG). And they have model numbers which you can find on Wookieepedia. The CT-4 is a made-up POS by FFG.

Nope, that's a "Treadwell" repair droid. They were cheaper, and in some ways better, than R2s back in the WEG days. You're thinking of the FX series.

Yes. Here is what it was...
Astrogation check: 2eP+1eA+2eB+1eS 3 successes, 2 advantage

Yet another reason why I only use an app that logs/archives results. (Unlike that crap people have been fawning over on the FFG forums.)
