The yes was to eckhal. The difficulty is 1eC+2eD. Don't forget to use your droid for a boost.

When we replace the retractable twin heavy laser cannons on each flank of the Blue (with ion cannons), can we have them turret-mounted, so that the guns can also fire fore and aft and not just to the sides?

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Sure.

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

This is how the weapons upgrade math works if paid for entirely out of Ari's personal funds...

Retail value of a twin heavy laser cannon: 7,500 * 2.5 = 18,750. Sell-back price at 85% (75% for negotiation result and 10% for Wheel and Deal talent): 15,937.5 x4 = 63,750.

Retail value of a twin medium ion cannon: 6,000 * 2.5 = 15,000 x93% x4 = 55,800. Net to Ari = 7,950.

Spoiler:
Negotiation check: 3eP+2eA+1eB+1eC+2eD 1 success, 1 advantage
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Retail value of a quad laser cannon: 8,000. Sell-back price at 85%: 6,800 x2 = 13,600.

Retail value of a light turbolaser cannon: 12,000 x2 = 24,000.

Ari's current funds: 14,702 + 7,950 + 13,600 - 24,000 = 12,252.

That's as much as she can do by herself. If we want twin turbolasers, the cost per turret increases to 30,000 (60,000 total for both turrets). 60,000 - 24,000 = 36,000 shortage, which would have to come out of Hardnox and Owyn's pockets if they wish to contribute. I don't know if those two characters even have 36k between them. Though they might, as they may not have spent as much on personal gear as Ari has.

I'm not sure. You may also be able to make more money on your new job. That is if someone decides to meet with Fuerza and see what she is offering.

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

I hadn't replied IC yet because all of this weapons stuff takes place prior to meeting with her, per your IC post. So I can really use possible funds from a mission I don't even know is coming up at the time the weapons are installed, can I?

No you can't, unless you want to take a loan out for some obligation. "Bobby" Calamalieri is always looking for a new victim client.

Open a line of credit. Put it on your account. ;)

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Ari will be damned if she assumes such a loan. She has no intention of personally carrying all of the load of financing the ship's needs, not unless she's sole owner of it, which she's not. While she, as one of the principals and a passenger aboard it, feels a need for the ship's weapons to be upgraded, she's not the only one to benefit from it. Better guns makes all of the PCs safer and allows us to take on better-paying work (or seize ships worth more).

BTW, my math was off a bit. That "36k" shortfall is not split two ways, but three. Ari still has 12k left herself. All that's needed is each of the other PCs to pony up 12k.

Hello! Shadowarrior suggested I post here in addition to PM. I am very interested in joining this game if there is an opening.
I have a snarky combat medic built as a Base character I am very looking forward to playing.

Rider is currently out of town. The days his posting will be limited is listed in his sig. Even when he's out of pocket he's usually been able to post at least once a day. This trip must be unusually busy or he's lacking a net connection where he's at (or both).

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Thu Apr 20, 2017 6:16 pm

I understand. I suppose that we wait for the mission. Round up any willing shipmates and get them up-to-date.

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Thu Apr 20, 2017 6:20 pm

Speaking of willing shipmates, am I to assume by your lack of response, Deep, that neither of your characters is disposed to contributing 12k (apiece) to get dual turbolasers instead of singles?

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Thu Apr 20, 2017 6:25 pm

That's fine. A wise investment. My lack of response is always a 'yes' or move forward. ;)

So, a new Doc (former combat medic?) coming aboard? Ship Doctor?

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Thu Apr 20, 2017 6:34 pm

GoG wishes to play a combat medic. He's intending to pick up a second spec in Ace Driver or Hotshot. Given that our pilots are droids, that would give him something to do while we're in space.

Deep, please don't forget to deduct 12k from each of your characters. I'll edit the ship's stats post now to reflect doubling the TLs, and update Ari's online sheet as well.

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Thu Apr 20, 2017 7:09 pm

No she doesn't fix ships, she fixes beings...whether they like it or not...8D
Did not realize the ship was sans a PC pilot...have to look into which build will actually give pilot planetary AND Space...

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Thu Apr 20, 2017 7:21 pm

We have a pilot droid, and two astromechs. None of the three are a substitute for a PC pilot, but they're better than the (unskilled) current PCs. Even the PCs that are no longer in the party had poor or no piloting skill.

Having said all that, the primary attribute for a medic is INT. For a pilot (of any sort) it's AGL. That means you have to compromise your effectiveness to do both. Unless you plan to focus on medical and just toss in piloting skills without caring if you have a good base attribute?

Welcome to the game. This course has kept me unusually busy. Typically I breeze through these courses, but I've had to spend the evenings doing the bonus homework and study sessions. Each players is allowed to have multiple characters so you may chose to have more than one. I have not looked but you can have half of the xp which I have awarded to the Other PCs for your post creation XP.

As for the summary of the game that you requested in pm... It is an edge of the empire game. This group has been through a lot and some of the PCs were moved from another game I had. If you want a summary it may be beennificial to ask the players what they think it is so far.

Going forward the group has decided to hurt the empire for a profit with a goal that their missions will lead to something bigger... A mega score perhaps. The game is not pre-developed and I try not to plan to far in advance to allow player actions to have a major impact on the game. If you read through the game you will see that player actions really sway the course of event. The recent experience of the group with imperial customs proves that as does the purchase of a certain 3px droid... Shado will undoubtedly hate that I gave those two examples.

I will not have internet access over the weekend as I am taking the opportunity to visit my grandparents here in Maryland. I've not seen them in years and the government has been kind enough to pay my travel allowing me this rare opportunity.

Shado, I know you are busy with your other games, but if you have the opportunity would you look over the new characters and approve them if you fell they are ok. I don't want to hold things up just because I'm backed up on this trip.

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Thu Apr 20, 2017 7:53 pm

I can do that, no problem. Half the earned XP so far (195), rounded up, would be 100.

I also wasn't aware that I could create a second character. I thought Deep was an exception, since he had characters in both of the games that you merged together. Knowing this, I'll have to see what we need the most and try to fill the hole(s). I don't know if Gand will create a second character, or just stick to one. Once he lets me know his plans, I'll start working on my second character.

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Fri Apr 21, 2017 7:10 am

I think for now I'll stick to the one character until I get used tot he forum set up and flow etc...I'm still undecided between Ace; Pilot or Hotshot, probably Hotshot as i covers more than just space craft...I'm actually thinking about doing the Ace first and Doctor second, makes more sense that way; Street Kid with a gift for boosting vehicles and driving them really fast to get away from Authorities...one day she boosted the wrong vehicle and ended up inadvertently rescuing a transport full of slaves...in the process discovers she has a knack for fixing people as well and decides to put it to use and lead a straighter life...mostly.
I'll work up the background and deets over the weekend. I'm working now and have a game later tonight so won't have any serious time until Saturday afternoon. I'll post her up on the character approval thread later.

There's a character review forum, and it's separate from the character database forum for this game, which is for already-approved characters. A lot of new players to this board make that mistake, so I want to make sure you understand the difference.

Re: Pirate's Bay OOC

Fri Apr 21, 2017 8:43 am

I've created a Sluissi Outlaw Tech. Since Gand is going to cover piloting and medical, a PC mechanic fills the other major hole in the party.

Swrider, you told us what to use for earned XP for the new PCs, but not what to do about money and/or gear.

The review forum is what I meant.
