eh. kindof missing a patch about the lathes as his origin memories, and I need to rewrite it away from the rogue trader confines a bit and into something a touch more coherent with how he is turning out. but thanks!

Both of those are great ship names. Fitting for the Flag of you dynasty. Anyway, Sorry for the delay, work kicked up over the last couple days. I'll get equipment info up soon. Does anyone have ideas for what kind of vessel? I know ex-warship has been thrown out there. So some of the questions are: How refitted is it? (is it still mostly warship, or has it been largely gutted) How big is it? How nicely appointed is it? How intact is it?

I'm in favour of something really economic. All disruption macrocannons and advanced cogitotors which can be used for calculating firing trajectories or profit margins.

Not the best thing in a big fight but really able to reclaim property without excessive damage.

maybe something more boarding related then? trying to hit life supporters and such? as well as ground forces to.. reposess materials from colonies from dynasties not paying their dues.

I'm thinking something medium sized (the average for ships in the area) that is armed as stated above but that also has a heavy array of destructive weapons (they don't need to work necessarily they are for intimidation). We want enough cargo room to carry deposits or valuable cargo, but It doesn't seem our primary focus will be cargo shipping.

However, a modicum of functional weapons would be preferable. We need to have teeth, else we become prey ourselves. Recently had some experience with that, in a game I won't mention to protect the guilty. :P

I don't know how far we're allowed to choose, or how closely we're following rt on the ships. but if we get one with the wolf in sheep's clothing background, we could have reasonable weapons (macrocannon broadsides, maybe a lance turret) look like something much more potent. (like.. a dorsal bombardment cannon, and massive lance broadsides.).

QS (and fellow players): please forgive me for not having written up any non-crunch for my character (yet). I'm not familiar and comfortable enough with the RT setting to even make a stab at it. Part of that is that I simply haven't had the time to properly devote to reading the RT core book and remedy my ignorance. It's a lot of stuff to read and recently (and delightedly) I've lost most of the idle time I used to have.

Fortunately (and by design), I'm not the one that makes decisions, or has to deal with people. :P

Sorry for my absence, folks. Internet died a death, engineer came and fixed it today. So I'm back in business. The Usury's Reckoning as a ship fitted with economic cogitators and specialised in intimidation and salvage... why yes, I could do some work with that.

So I've gone ahead and posted a descriptive version of Usury's Reckoning. That'll be as far as we go for a little bit, at least until I figure out a decent Voidship system. I tried to synthesize was people were suggesting here, but please drop in any thoughts, comments, desires, etc into that thread – that's why it's in review rather than posted in the main forum.

I've also put up a new Conversion thread on "Gear". You'll note this is primarily descriptive rather than a list. It would be time prohibitive for me to make a complete item list – particularly compared to the dozens of books worth of items that have been released for the published games. Instead I'll create items adhoc, as they are requested. Please feel free to look over here and here for ideas. Weapons and Armor are coming soon, and will be in the same thread. Still working on exactly how much stuff you can start with, but Cost-0 items are likely to be unlimited (within reason).

I've gone through and tried to comment on everyone's character thread. I think we're getting to the point where we can start considering opening an IC. I follow the principle of Finding Character so you'll be allowed to shift around your personality, backstory, and even skills to a limited extent during the first 'adventure' while we figure out who we all are and get a feeling for the game.

I've been meaning to have a go at character generation several times over the last weeks, but always end up postponing it due to the impression of "lot's of reading and incomplete conversions".

Is there a dummy-guide somewhere, to hold my hand?

Or should I just start reading the basic EoE rules?

Unfortunately the basic rules don't have character creation, and the hand-holding is in the starting adventure. The basics of character creation, however, are quite simple (particularly compared to Rogue Trader). Pick a homeworld, pick a career (and get 1 point in 4 skills) pick a specialization (and get 1 point in 2 skills), then spend your 100 xp. (I can PM you the costs). It's worth noting that EotE is much more forgiving of not being skilled, as there is no dice penalty like in Rogue Trader. (It is assume all heroes have a basic understanding of all things. Which in most high-adventure stories is true.)

Armor and Weapons are up in the Gear section. Also, I've decided that we'll use the following for starting equipment:

All characters may start with any 0 (simple) cost items they desire, within reason. They may also start with three items cost 1 (easy) they desire. They also start with 10 pts of Assets. Assets may be kept, or spent as followed:
5 Assets for One cost 1 (easy) item
10 Assets for Two cost 1 (easy) items
10 Assets for One cost 2 (Average) item

Quicksilver, The descriptions for these two pieces of armor don't add up. they provide the exact same mechanical benefits (except the cheaper version has a HP) inspire one of them being a cost 1 and supposedly an improved version. Is the difference entirely role-play? Based off the description it would appear you men to five armored clothing a defense of one.

Heavy Clothing: Common thick or tough clothing that provides some protection.

Defense: 0, Soak: 1, HP: 1, Encumbrance: 2, Rarity: 1, Cost: 0

Armored Clothing: An improved version of heavy clothing sown with specialized defensive plates, fabrics or even shield devices.

Defense: 0, Soak: 1, HP: 0, Encumbrance: 2, Rarity: 5, Cost: 1

Yeah, that's a typo - Armored Clothing is supposed to be Defense 1, Soak 1 (Like Star Wars' version)

So, I'm going to go ahead and start the first IC later this week – It's something of a cold start, so no need to worry if you characters are not finished – or even just a few ideas. This is mostly just to get a ball rolling.

Also, anyone have thoughts or opinions on the Usury's Reckoning? Please feel free to comment in the thread.
