Yeah I was confused by that comment also as I did not read in any intent to carry weapons. I'm not sure how the captain got that impression.

And the captain answered your question. You're just not thinking. Either of you. Prepare to slap yourselves IRL as you're about to have a 'Duh' moment: if you don't need weapons you don't need a Weapons Officer, do you?

Oh, lol, I looked at that from the wrong angle. I'll edit that into my response :P

I'm still not following. No specific duties have as of yet been assigned to Brenko. The fact that he was invited to the meeting does not seem usual either as he is also the third in command and will likely be assigned some responsibilities during the time here. Besides the OOC reason to include a PC in the conversation.

Because we won't need weapons, the Captain is subtly suggesting Brenko lead the organization and distribution of injured crewmen, being the third in command and all.

Perhaps its because we haven't experienced enough to get to know the captains personality, but it still seems a very round about and awkward way of making that point. Organizing from the ship would be a good idea, but sending the weapons officer to the planet may not be. If they know, find out or suspect that we sent a combat officer with the shore party it may be taken as a hostile act.

No, you get it Doc. It's Rider who was still clueless when I posted that facepalm. You just post faster than I do.

As for sending Brenko, he is third in command. Or Roda can go himself and leave Brenko behind. It's up to you.

What? Killiri was saying that he isn't on the best terms with droids, just like Vedij. I edited my post almost immediately after posting to fix it.

The Captain, with Willak, leaves the bridge before Brenko arrives.

Did the Captain not hear Killiri telling Brenko to meet him and the Captain on the bridge? Or is he just leaving and leaving it to Killiri?

The latter. The appropriate RP is: "This ship is yours, Mister Killiri. Don't break her or start any wars," he says with a smile.

More credit adjustments, the following characters receive an additional...

  • Vern Xorliss: 6,146
  • Orys Nor: 9,219
  • Machitis Pugnator: 9,219
  • Roda Killiri: 12,293
  • Jan Brenko: 12,293
  • Kareth Dune: 12,293
The reason for this one is that crewmembers that leave service due to injury or death only receive the promised 250,000 payout. So previous share disbursements get reversed and put back into the share pool to be redistributed.

BTW, Rider, Tycho Manin is the pilot/commander of your freighter, back at Baroli. Along with two other officers (co-pilot and engineer) and nine deckhands.

Could my R Unit be an R3, or is that (since it specifically has a better memory capacity than R2s and is military) not something Dune could have bought?

I don't recall saying the specific model I bought.

Unlike in Saga, FFG doesn't make a distinction between models of astromechs. Which is stupid, because there are substantial differences between them. In my game, a stock astromech is an R2 model. R3s and R7s (the latter not yet in existence) have better stat blocks. So the short answer to your question is 'no'. Why? Two reasons: (1) R3s are restricted, and you didn't look for one via that mechanism, and (2) they cost more than what you paid (not that money is an issue for you).

If you want to acquire an R3 model, you'll have your chance to buy **** on Dac.

Nah, the R2 is fine. I just needed to figure out a name.

R2-Z7, I like that designation.

I edited your IC post to fill in the name. Are you bringing your 3PO droid with you or leaving it (him) aboard?

Dune wasn't going to bring it this time. Doesn't want to risk any friction with the captain here.

Vedij is going to ask permission of the Mon Cals to allow shore leave. Assuming they agree, he'll authorize a short shore leave for the crew, in rotation, just an hour or two per person. (The shuttle pilots are going to be super-busy.) This is for morale, to let the crew breathe some non-recycled air, and meet some non-human galactic denizens. He's also going to ask the Mon Calamari for permission to dock the ship at one of their orbital facilities for fuel cell replenishment. Finally, he's going to be doing an extensive amount of recruiting of more crew so as to bring the ship up to a full complement.

How much of this takes place "on camera" is up to you guys. How much of the meeting between Vedij and the Mon Calamari do you want me to roleplay out? What does Dune wish to do on Dac as far as personal business goes? Same question for the other PCs?

Am I forgetting anything?

Dune is definitely going to want to see what he can find out information wise.

once the Captain is not around, Dune will bring his protocol droid and R2 unit to get updated information, languages, etc. for them, and give the protocol droid some more experience, given I would assume it came memory wiped (if not, Dune's going to take time to figure out what it was before). Th R2 will hopefully be getting an upgrade, Dune will look for parts to improve memory capacity and any updated underworld/Alliance/etc. info that he can get while here.

The R2 can be done offscreen.

That's all good to know. But you didn't answer my questions regarding roleplay while Vedij is present. :(
